Great Weather
This time of year is great for Clays! Sunny, blue skies and a light breeze. 5-stand is great for a little familial competition. Rabbits are great in the mix but I do have trouble shooting the trap target from the 26 yard handicap line.

Take a trip
If you are coming from the Nashville area you may choose to come down I-65. A more scenic route would be take highway 31A (aka Nolensville Rd.) south. And me shooting Trap on Wednesday is what prompted this blog. The State site for Henry Horton still shows them open on Wed., they where prepping for the skeet tourney and let me shoot anyway. It was a great day, started with lunch at the Inn's restaurant.
Back to the usual schedule of Thursday thru Sunday 12 to dark except on Saturday when the gates open at 8. As a disclaimer, I am in no way affiliated with Henry Horton or the State but after many a frustration of driving down there to find the range closed for one reason or another decided to do this to maybe save some other poor soul a fruitless drive. And...... on this past Wednesday I shot a straight in Trap! First one in a coupla years, been busy doing other stuff. Then turned right around and shot a 21, Ughhh.

Henry Horton State Park Skeet Range
Located at 4358 Nashville Highway in Chapel Hill TN, this is one of the crown jewels in the State Park system IMHO. The range is open on Thursdays thru Sundays 12:30 until 5 p.m., weather permitting. Rates are $5 per round of Trap or Skeet and $7 per round of 5-stand. When you check in at the Clubhouse you can buy the tokens and get your field assignment.
